Building Costs Aren’t Spiking Anymore… But Read This First

NOVEMBER UPDATES-13

If you’re thinking about building, there’s some good news and a bit of a watch-out.

Overall, construction costs have settled down after the spikes we saw over the past few years. That’s a welcome change, especially for anyone who’s been put off by constant price increases.

But it’s not all smooth sailing.

Fuel prices are starting to creep back into the picture, and that has a knock-on effect across the industry. Transport, materials, and labour can all be impacted, which can quietly push costs up again in certain areas.

So while the headline looks like “costs are stable,” the reality is a bit more mixed depending on the project.

There’s also still some caution in the building sector. Capacity, timelines, and pricing can vary quite a bit between builders and regions.

What this means for you:

  • Building is more predictable than it was, but not fixed-price safe
  • You need a bit of buffer in your budget
  • Getting the right team around you is key

If you’re weighing up build vs buy, this is where having someone run the numbers properly can make a big difference. What looks cheaper on paper doesn’t always play out that way once everything’s factored in. If you’d like to look at your numbers, get in touch.
